I followed the comic books and read them many many times and the city of 1000 planets was one of the best of the series. I know Besson is also a big fan and since movie technologie now allows it, I'm not surprised that this came up as a great workd to explore. The reader can take as long as they like to appreciate the details, or even skip them.
