Stephen Fry Investigated For What?....

My Sunday morning online newspaper reading involves paying a visit to The Guardian. Soon after the site's top-page loaded I saw something bizarre:

Stephen Fry investigated by Irish police for alleged blasphemy

What? Then I read the piece. Disturbing stuff.

I began to wonder, do I have the year right? So I uploaded this blog posting in order to check what year this is: Yep, 2017.

Yes, I realize that my methodology makes no sense. Just like something else....

Wow, what utter nonsense! "A member of the public, who asked not to be identified (no kidding; because he's a bloody crackpot) said he made the complaint against Fry." "
Blasphemous material?" That's actually a law? How is that not unconstitutional in a parliamentary democracy?
Next on the Gardaí list: Depeche Mode, for 'Blasphemous Rumours!'

Not only is it unconstitutional, it is childish and regressive.

Time to move forward, folks!

Hadn't heard of this. They'd be a little late to the party condemning Fry for blasphemy - Christ's very own crime, no less.

But we are being bombarded by the Stephen Colbert crisis, where Trumpsters have demanded he be fired ostensibly for "homophobia" (because now they care about it) for a joke about the 45th President, "Your mouth is only good for one thing, Vladimir Putin's co*k holster!"

Perfectly acceptable joke. It's a game of manipulation for some. Like the fuss over Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction, pressure that means nothing but might actually set dangerous precedents if people allow busybodies to have power.
